“The deeply human characters of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz come to life in David Getz’s colorful and warmhearted musical setting. Listeners may find themselves surprised by how many of Ruth’s themes – love, belonging, trust, survival, the status of the foreigner, and redemption – have contemporary resonance.”

Ruth: The Musical is an original work of musical theater written by David Getz in 2018.  Ruth received its world premiere at Grace Church in Morton, IL on June 16, 2018.  The auditorium of 1,100 seats was full to capacity with people standing in the balcony.  Local professionals Courtney Huffman (Ruth), Alison Meuth (Naomi), and Steve Williams (Boaz) sang the lead roles, and Phil Witzig conducted an 8-voice chorus for the production. Getz was the accompanist on piano.

Following its premiere, Ruth played at the Caterpillar Performing Arts Center at Five Points in Washington, IL for two shows in September.  Huffman, Meuth, and Williams reprised their lead roles.
